Maddy Profio- Meaningful Photograph

This is a photo taken by one of my friends Sonya Kozlova about a year ago. Sonya's photography is what first sparked my interest in trying photography. I think this photo is just so mystical, and the way the light reflects off Kati's (the model) hair is perfect. I've always enjoyed this photograph because I think it's one of those rare pictures that everything, light, placement, subject, everything, is all just perfect.

Jake Scholz, Meaningful Photo

This photo has importance to me because, this was the first photo I took that appeared in a magazine and on the television. It was at the end of the Wisconsin, versus Ohio State game, when the fans rushed the field. I also look at this photo as the first great achievement in my photography career.

Constellations, ACG, 2011

This is a photograph I took of my sister early this year. This photo was on the first roll of film that I developed by myself, and this was sort of a "test shot." I had been going through sort of a hard time; but I noticed that the dust on the blanket she's holding look like stars, which I find to be very peaceful and hopeful. So I have interpreted that she has just taken the sky and wrapped it around her to keep the bad things out.

This picture was from a teen issues series on deviantART.com by a subscriber by the name of liseva and is meaningful to me because I feel that too many people, both boys and girls, men and women, conform to the likes of "popular beauty."  It seems as though not many people are comfortable with themselves as they are, and instead cake on their makeup every morning, wear the same thing as everyone else, and skip a meal or two everyday to look like the airbrushed models in the magazines they see in the magazines.  Through this image, the artist illustrates how people plaster themselves with the "perfection" they see in advertisements, instead of loving who they are.

Kyle Putney Meaningful Photo 7-11-11. This is a picture I took while my friends and I filmed for a video. I set the camera up on a tripod and we jumped off of my roof one after the other. This photo expresses the love I have for filming, stunting, and my friends. It shows the dedication that we have to do what is necessary to get the perfect shot that I am pursuing. The biggest challenge with this photo was not being able to see the roof or the mats we landed on.

I chose this photo because Henri Bresson was known for "The Decision Moment." When I started my internship at Doug Edmunds Studios he told me to look up Henri's photos . Doug stated "that the only way to learn photography is to look back to the beginning photographers." As I was looking through Henri's photos this one instantly caught my eye. Henri had caught the exact moment that the child was looking straight at the camera .When you look at the picture you are drawn towards the child's eye. When you stare into his eye you can see his hunger and pain.From one small eye it gives such a deep intense feeling. This is what a photograph should do when you look at it , it should make you feel emotion . And my goal is to make people "feel" when they see my pictures.
